I don’t know about you... but I can’t believe Christmas is just three short days away!

Man, December really did fly by, didn't it? And pretty soon, 2024 will be here before we know it.

Anyways, I’m getting ahead of myself. Welcome back to another edition of Find The Good Friday, a weekly newsletter where we share helpful resources, one inspiring quote, one quick tip, and one find the good story to help you find the good this upcoming week.

Our goal is to help you get through the good and the bad days, the ups and the downs, and anything else that stands between you and a smile on your face.

This week's focus: Getting out of your own head.

Let’s get to it!

This Week's Resources

Here’s a list of some of my favorite resources this week. If you have the time to check them out, I’d highly recommend it!

This Week's Quote

“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present.”

- Master Oogway | Fictional Kung Fu Master

This Week's Quick Tip

I’m a chronic over-thinker.

You name it... and I guarantee I’ve thought about it more than I should. Big things? Yep. Medium-sized things? Yep. Small things that shouldn’t even be worth a second thought? Definitely.

But recently for me, the worst type of over-thinking isn’t even thinking about things that have already happened. It’s thinking about things that haven’t happened (and likely won’t). And then getting all worked up over it, leading to a downward spiral that’s hard to escape from.

So yeah, it’s not great.

But one thing that’s recently helped me escape these downward spirals is simply bringing myself back to the present moment. Taking a few slow, deep breaths. Walking around the neighborhood and paying attention to all the sights and sounds. Appreciating where I am. And let me tell you, even a small practice like this can help out a ton.

So the next time you find yourself over-thinking or getting in your own head, just remember to stay centered and bring yourself back to the present moment.

Because you know what they say, right? There’s no time like the present ;)

This Week's Find The Good Story

This week’s find the good story is from an anonymous member of our community. Hope it inspires you as much as it inspires us!

“In 2019, I moved from Framingham MA, to Simpsonville, South Carolina. No friends and no family. Nothing but my bags and parents in a new state, with a new house, new surroundings, and literally new everything! I didn’t have a job, so I was sitting at home on the couch, watching a lot of TV and eating. I became lazy, which I never was before! Something hit me that I needed to start getting out of my comfort zone and find a job.

So in January of 2020, I started working at a preschool where I met my life-long best friend in the bathroom one day. She came into my life at the perfect time. Brittany, her now husband, and her brother-in-law became my new family and friends. I started to get my life back and started finding the good in moving. They moved from New Jersey, so we were all going through the same thing at the same time. We all pulled each other out of the funk we were in and all got out of our comfort zones to find the good in moving to a new state without anything familiar.

Now, I can proudly say I’ve found the good in moving to a new state without family or familiar friends. Stepping out of my comfort zone, creating new relationships, getting familiar with my new surroundings, and completely falling in love with everything has been so incredibly good!”

Thanks for reading this week's edition of Find The Good Friday! We'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback, so let us know what you thought by dropping us a reply to this email.

Keep on finding the good :)
