Welcome back to another edition of Find The Good Friday, a weekly newsletter where we share helpful resources, one inspiring quote, one quick tip, and one find the good story to help you find the good this upcoming week.

Our goal is to help you get through the good and the bad days, the ups and the downs, and anything else that stands between you and a smile on your face.

This week's focus: Be sure to return the balls that are in your court.

Let’s hop right in, shall we?

This Week's Resources

Here’s a list of some of my favorite resources this week. If you have the time to check them out, I’d highly recommend it!

This Week's Quote

A man is not finished when he’s defeated. He’s defeated when he quits.”

- Richard Nixon | 37th President of the United States

This Week's Quick Tip

On the surface, life and tennis might not seem like they’ve got a whole lot in common. But if you take a minute to really think about it, you’ll realize there are actually a lot of similarities between the two.

In tennis, if you don’t return a ball that lands on your side of the court, you lose the point. Makes sense, right?

Well in life, unlike tennis, you’ve got to cover a lot of different courts at the same time. And you’ve got to return a whole lot of balls coming at you in all different directions. Sometimes they’re goals and sometimes they’re challenges you’ll have to face.

Your job. Your health. Your relationships with friends and family. All the other personal things you’re going through... it can be a lot at times!

Here’s the thing, it’s normal to feel stressed or anxious or overwhelmed at times. But if you feel that way for too long, it’s probably because you have a ball in one of your courts that needs your attention. A ball that needs to be returned.

So the next time you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed, look around at your courts in life and try to find that ball or two you need to return to the other side.

This Week's Find The Good Story

This week’s find the good story is from an anonymous member of our community. Hope it inspires you as much as it inspires us!

“I woke up one morning and realized that I had forgotten what it was like to just stop, breathe, and savor the moment. A close friend had asked me what I liked to do for fun in my spare time. And through that conversation, I realized I had no idea. Somewhere along the way, I stopped prioritizing what I enjoyed doing, who I spent time with, and where I wanted to travel. Work, amongst other things, had taken over.

It was in that moment that I made the conscious effort to put myself first and make choices that I needed to make for me. I found the good by changing careers and getting back lost time to find myself again.

I had forgotten how much I loved to be creative. I was able to read again, cook healthy meals, spend more time with family and friends, exercise and meditate, and just be present. No day is perfect, and there are times where I feel doubtful. But I keep reminding myself that I matter, and if I don’t stick up for myself, who will? I found the good for me.”
