Welcome back to another edition of Find The Good Friday, a weekly newsletter where we share helpful resources, one inspiring quote, one quick tip, and one find the good story to help you find the good this upcoming week.

Our goal is to help you get through the good and the bad days, the ups and the downs, and anything else that stands between you and a smile on your face.

This week's focus: Why you need to start with the fundamentals.

Let’s get to it!

This Week’s Resources

Here’s a list of some of my favorite resources this week. If you have the time to check them out, I’d highly recommend it!

This Week’s Quote

“Start small, think big. Don’t worry about too many things at once. Take a handful of simple things to begin with, and then progress to more complex ones. Think about not just tomorrow, but the future. Put a ding in the universe.”

  • Steve Jobs | Businessman and Former CEO of Apple

This Week’s Quick Tip

I live near a college campus. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a small college. But for some reason they’ve got a massive parking lot.

And last week I was walking through that parking lot (like I often do) when I saw something rather odd…

A man doing wheelies on his motorcycle.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Why in the world is this man doing wheelies in a college parking lot?!” And after wondering the same thing and laughing internally for a little bit, it got me thinking…

We all have to start small and we all have to start somewhere. A while back, this same man was probably first learning how to ride his motorcycle in the same parking lot. And now he’s learning how to pop a wheelie before hitting it on the open road.

So whether you know how to ride a motorcycle or not, one thing’s for sure: You have to master the fundamentals before you can level up and “pop a wheelie” (whatever that wheelie is for you).

Start small. Then work your way up and gain new skills.

Here’s your challenge for this week: Think about a skill you have, and spend a bit of time improving your craft and learning to “pop a wheelie.” No matter how small or big it might be.

This Week’s Find The Good Story

This week’s find the good story is from Mary. Hope it inspires you as much as it inspires us!

“Therapy truly helped me find the good. Accepting what is doesn’t mean you have to agree with it, and accepting things the way they are is a starting point to choose where to go from there.

Positive and negative things always exist, but we get to choose which one we focus on. I never realized it was that simple. Our brains are wired to focus on the negative things but we just need a few more seconds and skills to also find the good everywhere, too!”

Thanks for reading this week's edition of Find The Good Friday! We'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback, so let us know what you thought by dropping us a reply to this email.

Keep on finding the good :)
