This Week's Quick Tip
Two weeks ago, I started playing in an outdoor soccer league with a few friends. I grew up playing soccer, so it feels good to be back out there and kicking the ball around.
But honestly, this week’s game was... rough.
Aside from the fact that we lost 6-1, it was pouring rain the entire time and quite literally felt like we were playing in the middle of a hurricane.
I was frustrated, cold, wet, and at a certain point I just wanted to go home. If you ever played sports growing up, you know the feeling, right?
Anyway, it would have been easy to stay down and frustrated the entire evening. But like any tough situation, I tried to find the silver lining.
I’m healthy and able to play a game I love with some of my best friends. What’s not to be grateful for?
And after looking at things that way, I felt a lot better.
So this week, if you’re going through a tough situation or feeling upset or frustrated about something, I encourage you to look for the silver lining. Even if it’s hard to see at first... it’s there. You just gotta find it :)
This Week's Find The Good Story
“I found the good when I was laying in a hospital bed, nearly dead.
I suffer from a medical condition called gastroparesis, among other issues. I almost died and I wanted to end the pain and simply give up. I stopped fighting for everything. I was so weak and tired. I could hardly walk and I was put through a battery of tests. I saw the toll on my family. Until someone came into my life, someone I respected and trusted and showed me just how much more life has to it. That I have so much more to offer this world.
Being sick didn’t make me different, but able-minded. It gave me the ability to find the little things in life again. I got to drink coffee, play with my friends, and cheer again. While every day I struggle finding the good, I just have to remind myself that the world is scary and filled with hate and sorrow.
But when the sun rises or sets, when the stars shine or the sky becomes dark or light, when the water rises and falls... there is still good. And I need to be that good for myself and the people around me. Because I am worth fighting for.”
