Welcome back to another edition of Find The Good Friday, a weekly newsletter where we share helpful resources, one inspiring quote, one quick tip, and one find the good story to help you find the good this upcoming week.

Our goal is to help you get through the good and the bad days, the ups and the downs, and anything else that stands between you and a smile on your face.

This week's focus: Why nothing's really as bad as it seems.

Let’s get to it!

This Week's Resources

Here’s a list of some of my favorite resources this week. If you have the time to check them out, I’d highly recommend it!

This Week's Quote

If you aren’t grateful for what you already have, what makes you think you would be happy with more?”

This Week's Quick Tip

Yesterday morning I woke up to a tragedy...

Our house’s pipes broke, our toilet overflowed, and water got everywhere in our bathroom. So yeah, not the best way to wake up if you ask me.

Several hours later (and as I write this), there’s someone here trying to fix the issue with no luck. So looks like we’ll be out of an upstairs toilet for at least a while longer.

But as inconvenient and annoying as it is right now, I just keep trying to remind myself that it’s honestly not as bad as it seems.

Because when I zoom out and look at all the things I do have in life, there’s a lot to be grateful for: Food to eat. Clean water. A roof over my head. Access to electricity.

The thing is, there are millions of people around the world who would kill to have their biggest problem be an overflowing toilet... rather than let’s say not knowing where their next meal will come from.

So the next time something bad or unfortunate happens to you, try to zoom out, find the good, and shift your perspective. Because the reality is, most of the time things aren't nearly as bad as they seem.

This Week's Find The Good Story

This week’s find the good story is from Natalie. Hope it inspires you as much as it inspires us!

“Negativity is more common than I realized. I started trying to focus on the good a couple years ago, with even bigger strides being taken over the past year.

Allowing anxious thoughts or negative feelings to pass without dwelling on them has changed my life. Finding beauty in the rain, instead of grumbling about it. Getting excited to wake up and experience the day instead of being cranky because it’s Monday. Finding the good is a choice I make every day, and it’s given me more happiness than I knew was possible.”
