Welcome back to another edition of Find The Good Friday, a weekly newsletter where we share one resource, one inspiring quote, one quick tip, and one find the good story to help you find the good this upcoming week.
Our goal is to help you get through the good and the bad days, the ups and the downs, and anything else that stands between you and a smile on your face.
This week's focus: Why you should give yourself a break every now and then.
Let’s get to it!
This Week's Resource
Taking Breaks is Good for Your Brain – Here's Why
We've all been there. The times when we work so hard we forget to stop and take a break. The times where maybe we think we can't afford to take a break because we have so much to do.
Well, I hate to break it to you... but grinding non-stop throughout the day is the quickest way to burnout.
Every few hours, you should give your mind the chance to relax and recharge. You can't perform your best if you aren't feeling your best.
Read on to learn more about why taking breaks throughout the day is beneficial for your mental health.

This Week's Quick Tip
After being self-employed for the past month and not having to stare at a computer screen for eight hours straight each day, I've been taking the time to go on walks during the early afternoon (something I couldn't do before). And let me tell you, we all know about the benefits of walking on our physical and mental health.
But I find that my mind is so much more refreshed and recharged after even just a 30 minute walk around my neighborhood.
I used to think I couldn't afford to take any breaks during the day. "I'm too busy. I have so much to do," I would say to myself. But honestly, I've recently found that I can't afford to not take these types of breaks throughout the day.
So the next time you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed, simply give yourself a break and come back 20 minutes later. Your mind will thank you.
This Week's Find The Good Story
This week’s find the good story is from Stephanie. Hope it inspires you as much as it inspires us!
"Back in the 70s, when I was a kid, I had a shirt that said, 'A smile is contagious, let’s see how far we can spread it.' It was one of my favorite shirts because I really liked the saying, but I didn’t realize what an impact it had until I wore it one day during a family trip to Disney World.
It’s strange how certain memories stick in your mind many years later, but I remember standing in line for the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse wearing that shirt. The other people waiting in line would read the shirt and smile at me. It made me learn from a very young age that a smile really is contagious.
Although it's been 40+ years since that experience, I remember the significance of a smile and try to smile at the people I meet throughout my day. You never know what kind of day someone is having, and sometimes a friendly smile is all they need to turn their day around!"
