This Week's Quick Tip
Truth is, we often worry too much about things that don’t deserve our energy and attention.
Has something ever happened to you and you end up stressing about it for what seems like forever, only to look back and think: “Now, why was I even worried about that small thing to begin with?”
Yeah... me too (much more than I’d like to admit).
Luckily, there’s a simple technique you can use when you come across instances like these. It’s called the 5x5 rule, and here’s how it works:
Whenever something happens to you, pause and ask yourself if it will matter five years from now. If the answer is no, then give yourself a max of five minutes to worry and stress and feel all those negative emotions... then move on.
I’ve been using this technique recently and, let me tell you, it’s helped a ton.Try it out for yourself next time you’re feeling anxious or worried and let me know how it goes.
This Week's Find The Good Story
This week’s find the good story is from Mary. Hope it inspires you as much as it inspires us!
“Therapy truly helped me find the good. Accepting what is doesn’t mean you have to agree with it!
Accepting things the way they are is just a starting point to choose where to go from there. Positive and negative things always exist. We get to choose which one we focus on.
I never realized it was that simple. Our brains are wired to focus on negative because of survival. However, we just need a few more seconds and skills to also see the good everywhere, too!”
